Anna Gillespie : Room 1

Anna qualified as a stone mason in Bath before travelling to Italy to study with the sculptor and master carver Nigel Konstam.

As a trained stone mason and sculptor who previously worked with more traditional materials, she has now constructed these life-sized figures out of the unlikely media of masking tape, duct tape and cloth. Using this truly post-industrial medium she reflects the transient nature of 21st century society. While the masking tape may be ephemeral, Anna is also actively involved in translating her work into more permanent sculpture, with methods including metal-casting and encapsulation in resin.
