Cathy Judge : Room 1 "My early, untutored, efforts were refined and expanded by formal training at Bath Art College and also the Queens Road College of Art and Design at Bristol. Early works were an attempt to re-create the model's likeness, but I now find the prospect of abstracting or stylising the human shape much more exciting. I attempt to simplify the form and emphasize the few essential lines, bringing beauty and fluidity to my work. This work I now see as a representation and stylistic interpretation of the female form, exploring and abstracting the soft, tactile and curvaceous. I have also translated these forms into 'cement fondue' figures for outdoor display". To find out more about Cathys work click here. |
